college food makes me want to throw up and eat some more

saint olaf was awesome. we sung forEVER, and thats one of my favorite things to do, so it was great. after singing for about 2 hours, we ate in the cafeteria, and i've decided that i'm going to gain lots of weight in college if the food is anywhere near the way it is now. i just love it. i went to luther college last year with my school and i have to say that luther food is better than olaf food--by far-- but saint olaf had some pretty good food.
nothing hugely interesting has happened since then, except that i went to a hockey game with my boyfriend of three days, tanner, and then we broke up the next day. oh well. today we performed seussical for the third graders, and tomorrow is opening night! its so exciting!

my feet are killing me, but it was totally worth it

its been a long time since i've been able to post. my internet is still down, so its hard for me to find a combination of time to post and a computer to post on. so here i am writing a post that i won't actually be able to post until my internet is repaired. anyway, as for my life, its very busy. i have little to no time to relax, but it keeps some things off my mind that i like to keep out of my train of thought. between mock trial, show choir, and seussical, only a few things stand out that i really remember. first; a football game with some friends, second; a soccer game with joey, kenzie, and hannah, third; my confirmation, and fourth, a birthday party. the football game wasn't all that interesting, but it was fun seeing some of my eighth grade friends again. the soccer game was a lot of fun, mostly because joey was there. he always makes things more interesting. my confirmation was huge; after a lot of studying, i passed my test, then immediately started preparing for my open house, which was a huge success. finally, the birthday party, which reminds me that i forgot to mention that november first was my birthday. i hung out with dean and chris, and thats basically it. it was quite a simple birthday party. anyway, i went to holly's 17th birthday party last night, and it was a blast. it was a swing dancing party, and i went thinking i was going to be made a fool of because not many freshman were invited, so i didn't know a lot of people going, and also, i didn't know how to dance. after zach taught me though, i happily danced with almost everyone in the room. i stayed until 11:30, and might i say, my feet are killing me, but it was totally worth it. today i had play practice at noon, and tomorrow i'm going to saint olaf college for a choir festival thing. i better start memorizing the music now.

Lani has been eaten by a sousaphone!

lets see. my internet has been down for the past few days, and after i fixed it, i really didn't have a whole lot of time to blog. so i've kind of forgotten what i did in the past week. but, thats what facebook is for. i update my status all the time, so i'll just go check that and see what i can make of my statuses. hahaha.
well, on friday, my status around seven pm was; Lani has been eaten by a sousaphone! we had pep band that night, and ryan tried to eat me with nick's sousaphone. it was funny. it had started to rain after we played for pregame, and mr. gepson was "concerned about the humidity," so he let us put our instruments away earlier than we were supposed to. i stayed for most of the rest of the last football game of the season, which was called the "game of the decade" by the tribune.
saturday was uneventful. sunday we went to the rendezvous. sunday was joey's birthday, and my grandpa's birthday party. after we celebrated my grandpa's birthday, i called joey and my brother and i sang happy birthday to him. it was cute.
monday was one of the best days i've had in a while. it wasn't really the whole day that was great, but a few select moments were awesome, so i decide to remember monday by those moments. my brother had a haircut, so i rode along. my mom got me some supper from taco bell, along with a strawberry slushie. i sat in the car while my noah was getting his hair cut, read my favorite book, listened to the rain, texted my best friends, blasted the radio, and drank my slushie. it was great.
on tuesday, i watched the twins game, and it was intense. it was the first full baseball game i've ever watched, and i loved it. i got really into it, and i nearly cried every time the other team got a home run. it was stressful because it was a really close game; 12 innings, but i loved it. i was sad that night, for random reasons, and elisha, a junoir from my drama class made me feel a lot better.
on wednesday, dean and i rode bike to joey's house again. we basically sat at stables and talked. joey was sick, and he wasn't supposed to be outside, so he had to leave the second he saw his dad drive around the corner, but we got an hour with him. as my status said; "every moment spent with you is a moment i treasure." the birthday party was cancelled, probably for the best, because its snowing right now.
thursday i went to the doctor for some blood tests, and came in late for school. yesterday i got my homework and had seussical practice. we learned our who dance. it was fun. last night i went to a movie with some friends and got ice cream and dairy queen afterwards.
today, i woke up to a snow-frosted ground. the leaves on my tree haven't even changed color yet! its sad.

blame it on the rain

i just got home from school, and let me tell you, its raining cats and dogs. i walk a block from where the bus drops me off to my house, and by the time i got home, my pants were soaked up to my knees. i wasn't even supposed to take the bus today, but i forgot about my choir lesson after school. i blame it on the rain. right now i'm listening to seussical, drinking dr. pepper, blogging, and texting javier. what a life. i really should be studying for my math test tomorrow, but i'm not really in the mood. i got an A+ on the quiz in the middle of the chapter, so i'm pretty sure i'll do good on this test, but it won't hurt to study some tonight before i go to bed. i'm working toward a 4.0 gpa this semester, and honors geometry is one of my tougher classes, so i've got to work a little harder.
its joey's birthday this sunday, and next weekend i'm throwing a party for him. ella gave me the idea to make a pinata, so i'm going to try that out this weekend if i have time. i've also got to make invitations for joey so he can invite a few of his friends, and come up with something to do for decorations and food. i love planning, but its hard to plan for a party when you don't have any money. i've got a lot of crafty stuff at my house that i can use for decorations, but i don't know about food and things like that. i guess dean, my co-planner, will have to pitch in a bit. i'm really excited for this party. dean and i were going to go to joey's today to plan some more, but its raining, so we really can't. all the more time to work on homework i guess.

sunset at stables

i just got back from a bike ride with my friend dean. we rode about 2 miles to joey's house, and we hung out at a burnt down restaurant that used to be called stables and watched the sun set. its a really nice night, although a little windy. its really cool; a nice autumn evening. i will fall asleep tonight do the sound of the wind blowing through the leaves just ouside my window.
its joey's birthday next sunday, and i've got his birthday present hanging on my bulletin board for him. he's moving soon; in the next few weeks most likely. i'm going to miss him a lot, but i thank God for the time He's given me with joey. he's quickly become a really close friend to me, like a brother. i love him with all my heart.

homecoming

i think i'll just leave out all the bad parts, and pretend that homecoming was perfect, even though it wasn't.
we got out of school at one, and because it was raining, field day was held indoors instead of at the field. the jumpies were set up in the gym, and a mechanical bull was set up in the commons. ella and i basically walked around and watched people on the mechanical bull, because neither of us wanted to actually go on it.
when i got home, i took a short nap, then got ready for the game. i had to play for pep band the first half, and at halftime, and i thought it was a lot of fun. i hung out with dean, joey, ashley, kenzie, venus, skyler, and duncan for the second half. i was supposed to go to the dance with matt, but i couldn't find him, so i just came home after the game was over.
we lost, as usual, 12-27.

fail

well, i’m sitting here in video production; seventh hour, and we’re doing book work-type stuff. i’m done with it, and my math homework, which happens to be the only homework i have for today. so, i’m bored out of my mind, and i thought i’d blog.
this week has been pretty good. on tuesday, i went to an 8th grade football game with sara, and we had a lot of fun. i kind of miss middle school in a way sometimes. high school gets boring, and it sucks being at the bottom of the totem pole again. yesterday i went to a park with my church and explored the forest with some of my younger friends (because i’m not actually required to go to confirmation anymore, so it was mostly kids younger than me that were there).
its homecoming week, and, where at middle school they discouraged us to dress up, here at high school they have a drawing for twenty dollars to the best costume. on monday i wore my pajamas, tuesday i wore a superhero-like outfit, wednesday my idea failed when ms. heaney wouldn’t let me borrow her name tag, and today, neon day, i again fail.
this morning we had pep fest, and it wasn’t that great. i had to play for band, which was alright, but during all the cheers led by our not-so-great cheerleaders, all the older kids booed the freshman. here at alhs, we don’t really have a lot of school spirit; we’ve got more class spirit, which isn’t as fun. i wish we could be united as a school, not just as the class of ’13, or ’12, or ’11, or ’10.
tomorrow is the big game. in the afternoon we get dismissed from school early and there’s an opportunity to go to the football field for field day. i’m probably going, because i want to watch the junior and senior girls battle it out in the powder puff football game. i’ve got to sit with the pep band for the first half, because we’re performing at halftime, but i’m watching the rest of the game with my math buddy/tutor, matt. we’re also going to the homecoming dance together as friends. it should be fun. middle school dances were horribly boring and stupid, but high school dances are supposed to be much better. i guess we’ll find out tomorrow night.

homecoming dress-up days

monday- pajama day
tuesday- superhero day
wednesday- what i want to be when i grow up
thursday- neon day
friday- cherry and blue

summer lives on

yesterday, just after i got out of the shower, i got a call from my friend joey, who was standing outside my house. after quickly getting dressed and putting on my makeup, i went outside, and we called dean and ashley to come over too. we hung out at my house for a while waiting for ashley, then we started to walk around town. we had an ice cream fight and played truth or dare, and when joey had to leave, dean, ashley and i sat and talked for a few hours. it felt like summer again. my fun came to an abrupt end today when i had to get up early for church, and when i got home from church i had to do my math homework. after my mom gets home from the store, we're going to herburger's to look for a white blouse for me to wear for band and choir concerts.

a quote to describe how i feel

well, i talked to jacob. i told him i was sick of him being mean to me, and we agreed to stay out of each other's lives. period.
you can never find the right person if you can't let go of the wrong, but a the same time, the moment you feel like letting go, you remember why you held on so long. sometimes you have to forget what you want, and remember what you deserve.

and so, another week goes by

i'm now the time keeper for mock trial, and a recruiting member of math team. also, i made show choir, and we find out on monday about the musical. i had my first choir lesson on thursday, and i do say i absolutely love having one-on-one time with ms heaney. choir is awesome! i'm still not a huge fan of band, but i'm starting to enjoy pep band. last tuesday after we played at pregame, i watched the boys soccer team play with matt and alison, two of my sophomore friends. it was a lot of fun. another of my sophomore friends, jessica, walked me through my schedule a few times in the morning, because we had nothing better to do, and now i know my way around the high school. i'm still kind of missing middle school; all my younger friends and my teachers, but i'm enjoying the high school more and more each day. it would be perfect if jake wasn't in any of my classes, or if he just disappeared altogether. haha. he's really mean to me, and its hard for me to handle. he announced to take my math class yesterday that i have herpes (which i don't; obviously). all the more reason to look back to my quote of the year;
"when it comes down to it, i'll let them think what they want. if they care enough to bother with what i do, then i'm better than them anyway."

the night before homecoming

it was the night before the homecoming and all through the town
the tigers were dreaming of tomorrow's touchdowns.
the uniforms were hung in their lockers with care,
all ironed and pretty and ready to wear.
the players were nestled all snug in their beds,
while visions of victory danced in their heads
the fans searched for their cherry and blue,
in hopes to bring spirit tomorrow at school.
go tigers! boo falcons! we will cheer tomorrow night
with band playing and fans screaming “fight! fight! fight!”

class update

1 honors geometry A- nelson, room E 210
honors geometry is alright, except that jacob is in it, haha. i sit next to justin who hates me, but thats okay; i can handle it. mrs. nelson teaches differently than mrs. miller, my math teacher last year, but i'm getting used to it. matt helped me with some of my homework, so now i understand what she's talking about, which makes me happy and makes the class a lot easier for me to handle. i'm finding that either i'm the only one with the answers, or the only one brave enough to shout it out; maybe both. i signed up for math team in hopes that it will help me do better in geometry.
2 english 9 A- bute, room E107
so far, english is pretty boring. i sit between alonso and andy, which is pretty good, because we're all nice to each other and everything. mrs. bute reminds me of mrs. hoffman, my sixth grade teacher. i'm not sure why. basically all we've done in english is vocabulary, and we started our grammar unit. yippee.
3 world history IA- vogt-erickson, room E117
i was pleased to find out that mrs. vogt-erickson was not jacob's mom; thats a different erickson. i sit next to jalen and emily in history, and emily and i are doing a timeline project together. mrs. vogt-erickson smiles all the time, and it's starting to irritate me. i can't wait to see her angry. haha.
A tiger choir A- heaney, room A201
choir is great, as always. i loooove singing, so choir is one of my favorite classes. i didn't make chorale, but thats okay, because i wasn't expecting to get in anyway. so far, i haven't been able to be in choir very much because of band, which irritates me more than mrs. vogt-erickson's smile.
4 tiger band A- gepson, room A202
band is okay, but i'm kind of sick of playing the flute. mr. dawson, my band director last year, was supposed to teach me a different instrument, but he never got around to it, so i'm going to see if mr. gepson can teach me a new one. mr. gepson is alright; he goes to my church and his kids are the best. (: he's just really strict and expects a lot out of us, which is a good thing, i think.
5 earth science A- mauseth, room F110
science makes me hungry. it's right before lunch, and i have a really late lunch, so i'm always distracted by my hunger in science. i really wanted the other science teacher, mr. fiscus, but miss mauseth is alright too. she's really young, and she relates to her students well. i like her. we haven't done a lot in science so far, but i've been told that we're starting our first lab on monday.
C lunch
i've been bringing my own lunch to school, because when i tried to get hot lunch, it was terrible. i didn't like it at all. the food was fine, but trying to get it was pure chaos. i sit with ella, kelli, dean, laura, alison, savanna, and jensen.
6 beginning acting/theatre- wilken, room E108
i just love my acting class! two of my older friends, daphne and rachel, are in it and its just a really fun group of people. ms. wilken is an awesome teacher too. a few days ago, we spent the entire class period talking about our childhood injuries, and next week we'll be reading children's stories to each other. its so much fun!
7 video production- monson, room E 204
mrs. monson is chrissy, one of my friends' mom. she's good, but i'm kind of bored in her class too. it seems to go by really slowly because its my last class. right now, we're working on interviewing our classmates, and monday we'll start videoing the interviews.

TGIF

its the first friday of the school year, and its a much-needed one. i think i'll take a nap before going to the football game, then stay up late tonight. school is better; i had a sophmore help me with my honors geometry homework and now i understand it completely. i'm actually kind of excited to do my homework this weekend, because i know that i've got someone to go to if i have problems with it. my mom called the bus company and told them that i have asthma, so now i get to ride the bus, even though technically i shouldn't be able to because of how close i am to the school. tonight i have to play for pep band at the football game, and i might stay with some friends, or maybe not. on wednesday, i tried out for chorale, which i most likely won't get into, because freshman never get in, and next week are tryouts for the fall musical; seussical, and show choir. i also signed up for math team today, but i'm not sure that i'm going to do it yet.
